Glamor with the Sony Ericsson Equinox

T-Mobile adds more allure to its 3G phones with this latest from Sony Ericsson - the Sony Ericsson Equinox (earlier named T707). Otherwise a basic flip-phone in functionality, the Equinox carries some eye-catching bling to push itself to the limelight amongst the other established clamshell models in the market. First is the stylish exterior - after you update your T-Mobile favorites list with your caller friends" circle, the shell lights up to indicate the identity of the caller in one of the five available colors. Say "amber" for good friend Joe and "amethyst" for avoidable Erica. I say, a thumbs-up for people with good memory, and more confusion for those without. Other than that, the external shell also contains an 128 x 36 OLED screen that functions only when you get an incoming call.

If you didn"t fall for that, here"s the next - the phone flaunts a scratch-resistant 2.2-inch QVGA inner screen, a 3.2MP camera, stereo Bluetooth connectivity, GPS for navigation, and an FM radio. It uses motion sensing for some gesture control - to silence a call or an alarm without opening the device. The phone also supports picture messaging and the provision to directly upload videos to YouTube. Poser or not you decide, but don"t say we didn"t warn you. The Equinox is due to go on sale today (October 28th) in T-Mobile stores. The price is pegged at $50 with a 2-year contract agreement.

Super charger for iPhone delivers a 3000mAh punch

Okay, that was an exaggeration. But really, the first statement that caught my eyes as they rolled over the specs for this iPhone charger called iPa was the line "Super Capacity - 3000mAh, make your iPhone as a whole day parter." Though it took me a long while to recover from the initial blow that the name delivered (who would think of calling it "iPa"?!), it took me even longer to understand the above statement.

Just grammar or Freudian slip, you decide. Nevertheless, our conscience does not permit us to trail off without presenting both sides of the coin, so be informed that this $60 "super charger" promises to extend your iPhone (3G, 3GS) talktime by 8.5hrs, online time by 8.5hrs and video playback time by a whopping 11hrs. All carefully "estimated", ofcourse. And to say the least, the specs are mighty confusing - once we figure out how a device that measures 11.5 cm x 6.6 cm x 2.4 cm in dimensions can be described as being not bulky, but just a "little" extension to the iPhone, will we go back to understand the more complicated statement that we started off with.

Nokia 5230: Smart, Cool and Affordable

After the failure of Nokia N97, Nokia is planning to make a comeback with its new budget touchscreen handset known as the Nokia 5230. The Nokia 5230 is being introduced into the market to compete directly with the iPhone 3G. It is not only stylish but also packed with some decent features. It will be available in range of colors including red, pink, blue, yellow, silver and dark silver.

The keyboard obsessed get around their iPhones

It is probably the most whispered device in the geek blogosphere, and we wouldn"t be exaggerating if we were to place it right behind the recent Apple event, in the order of importance. Only because the placement happens to be quite literal - the iTwinge is the world"s first keyboard designed to work with the iPhone 3G and 3GS. Now you see?

The iTwinge is sympathetic towards those with "two left hands" - a terminology we just made up to describe those of us who are never comfortable with the idea of using a touchscreen to its fullest extent and long for the luxury of a real, tactile keyboard. This QWERTY keypad attaches itself to the bottom of your iPhone and works like it came along with the device when you bought it. Nah, we are not so sure if the user experience is so seamless, but we sure hope it leads the way for more (and better) options to show up.

HTC Tattoo does another Android

If the HTC Hero made you happy, just hang on until you see its hotstepper sibling - the HTC Tattoo. The Tattoo has just been announced and should we say, the specs are quite impressive too.

This 2.8-inch touchscreen device is pretty compact (106 x 55.2 x 14-mm / 113 grams) inspite of the features it carries. So count in a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7225 processor, 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM, a 3.2MP autofocus camera, 3.5-mm headset jack, microSD slot, internal GPS, 900/2100MHz HSPA/UMTS and quad-band GSM/EDGE, 802.11b/g WiFi, digital compass, accelerometer, and Bluetooth 2.0. Yes, you will not miss the trademark Sense UI experience as HTC has extended it to this device as well. The covers are apparently fully customizable - and hence the device flaunts the name "Tattoo".

While the pricing is still under the wraps like a mystery tattoo in the making, the HTC Tattoo is expected to hit European shores this October, and then spread to the other markets in the months following.

You love your iPhone--or your Palm Pre--so much that you take it everywhere. Now you can even bathe with it.

Yes, it"s soap in the form of today"s two cult phones, the Palm Pre and the iPhone. You can"t call or tweet or download or listen to music with these babies. But at least you can get clean, which is more than you can do with the phones themselves.

Samsung has recently announced that it will be launching three Android phones this year and the S8000 is one of them. Judging by the leaked specs and pics, it does look and sound like a cool device.

Motorola Evoke QA4 officially announced

After much speculation, Motorola has recently announced its new touch screen slider known as the Motorola Evoke QA4. It comes with a full HTML browser, accelerometer and support for RSS feeds, MySpace and YouTube. There's no official word on the pricing, availability and the operating system installed on it.
